His Excellency, the Prime Minister of Bhutan visited UWICE

His Excellency, the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Lyonchoen Tshering Tobgay visited the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment at 10:00 AM on 18th October 2013.

His Excellency was welcomed by the Director of the Institute and faculty members. Lyonchoen toured the Lamai Gompa dzong and interacted with students at the Institute. In his address to the students, His Excellency stressed on the importance of forests and the crucial role which foresters fulfill in terms of protecting this important common heritage.

His Excellency also visited the construction site of the Madanjeet Center for South Asia Forestry Studies and assured his support for the completion of the facility. His Excellency expressed his desire to see the Institute grow into a center of excellence in forestry and conservation studies within the region and internationally. He also assured the Institute of the Royal Government’s full support in this venture.
