Convocation for Eighth Batch Certificate Course
The eighth batch of certificate course in Conservation, Environment and Forestry Studies (September, 2015 - May, 2016), which was conducted at Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment (UWICE), formally concluded today with the convocation ceremony. The trainees who attended the course were all in-service candidates who work in different regional offices under Natural Resources Development Corporation Limited (NRDCL).
During the course, trainees were introduced to various forestry basics including forest management, silviculture, forest botany, and even wildlife conservation. After the theory class, they were sent on attachment for a period of three months to various NRDCL offices.
The convocation ceremony was graced by Mr. Sonam Wangchuk, Program Director of RNR-RDC Jakar, Bumthang and attended by various regional forestry officers and staff. School for Field Studies (SFS) faculty who are in campus also attended the program. The chief guest in his keynote addressed and advised the trainees that they are the ambassador in the field to conserve and maintain 60% of forest covers as per the constitution of Bhutan.
Mr. Ugyen Phuntsho who served as councilor said “the knowledge, skills and training that they have gained will be utilized in the best manner to conserve the environment in a sustainable way. Moreover he thanked the NRDCL management for sponsoring their training”.
