Khaki Silverline Butterfly: A New Record for Bhutan
With the addition of Khaki Silverline (Cigaritis rukmini), total number of butterfly species recorded in Bhutan is 728. Mr. Kado Rinchen, a senior forester of Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park spotted the butterfly on 1st October, 2016 at Tongtophey, Trongsa. Mr. Karma Wangdi, a research assistant of the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment has confirmed it as a new record for Bhutan in the family of Lycaenidae (Blues). According to Karma Wangdi, with the addition of this new record, Bhutan now has 174 species of Lycaenidae.
