Orientation program for National Certificate II and National Certificate III trainees

From this academic year (2018-2019), the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environmental Research will have two batches of trainees undertaking  NC II and  NC III forester course simultaneously. There are total of 55 trainees at present undergoing forester course (30 NC III and 25 NC II) at the Institute. 

The 3 days orientation program was conducted from 2nd to 4thJuly 2018 at the Madanjeet conference hall at Lamai Goempa, Bumthang. The orientation includes welcome address by Offtg. Director Mr. Sangay Wangchuk, overview presentation of the UWICER by Principal Forestry Officer Dr. Sherub, and the center and section talk by the respective center and section heads on the mandates and activities.

The trainees were also oriented on the institute rules and regulations, and overview of  NC II and NC III modules by the Program Coordinator of Education and Capacity Building Services. The trainees were also familiarized with the on-campus tour by Mr. Lam Dorji, currently serving as PT instructor at the institute. One activity presented and assigned to the trainees during the orientation program was landscaping activities. The trainees have come up with project like eco-pond, foot-path maintenance, installation benches around the campus, gazebo and rock garden inside the UWICER campus.
