The Honorable Minister for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Yeshi Penjor, visited the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment Research (UWICER) on 14th October 2021. The minister was on his tour to Bumthang dzongkhag to visit various offices under the Ministry. In his keynote address, Lyonpo applauded the work that UWICER has been doing in education, training, and research in the natural resource sector. The minister informed the institute about the discussions that are currently ongoing regarding the vision and future for the institute. Presentations were also made to inform the minister about the institute's background, vision, and current activities.
On behalf of the management, the head of the institute thanked the government and the visionary leadership of His Majesty for the incredible job done in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. The head reaffirmed our commitment under the Department of Forests and Park Services' purview to contribute to human resources (foresters) in border security as long as the pandemic persists.
The event ended with a campus tour.
