Silviculture and Forest Protection training underway

The silviculture & forest protection training is being conducted starting from today till the 20th of October, 2023 at the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Forestry Research and Training. The training will focus on forest types, silvicultural practices, disease management, all of which have a direct impact on our forests. The program comprises both theoretical classroom sessions and hands-on practical field exercises to enhance participants' learning. 

Silviculture and forest protection training is aimed at fulfilling following objectives: 

-To educate foresters on the principles and practices of sustainable forest management, 

-Train individuals on identifying and mitigating threats to forest health, such as pests, diseases, and invasive species, and

- Train participants on the concept of maximizing productivity of forest. 

The training is funded by Bhutan For Life and is attended by 24 forestry staff from the Divisional Forest Offices and Protected Areas within the ambit of the Department of Forests & Park Services (DoFPS).
