Ecosystem Services Valuation (ESV) training workshop for Protected Area Network

Ecosystem Services can be defined as direct and indirect contributions of ecosystems to human well-being. As per Millenium Ecosystem Assessment, the ecosystem services are divided into provisioning services, regulating services, cultural services and supporting services. ESV focuses on translating the ES benefits into a particular currency. 


During the training workshop, the participants were introduced with the concepts of ES, ESV and various methods used in the valuation of the ES. Participants were also trained on the use of KoboCollectand KoboToolboxwhich will be used for data collection in the field. During the workshop the road map for valuing the ES derived from protected area network was also drawn up. 


The training workshop was held from October 28, 2024 to November 01, 2024 at UWIFoRT with the financial support from Bhutan for Life Project.

A Total of 23 participants from Protected Area, Biological Corridor and UWIFoRT attended the training workshop.
