Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Training

The Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation training is being conducted from 13 th - 17 th November at UWIFoRT, Bumthang. The training aims to strengthen capacity of foresters on wildlife rescue and rehabilitation with efficient use resource and in line with rescue protocols. The training will contribute to reducing HWC and help save numerous wildlife species' lives, ultimately promoting long-term biodiversity conservation. The training comprises of both theoretical classroom sessions and practical sessions to enhance participant's learning.
The participants consist of personnel from various Division Forest Offices and Protected Areas under the Department of Forests and Park Services (DoFPS). A total of 29 participants from various PA/Divisions are attending the training.
The objective of the training are as follows:
- Train foresters on wildlife capture, handling, and transport methods for injured and displaced wildlife
- Equip foresters with the skills to handle wildlife emergencies resulting from natural disasters, poaching, habitat destruction or human-wildlife conflict.
- Emphasize on the use of appropriate tools and equipment’s for various species to minimise stress and risk to both the animals and rescuers.
