On 10 June 2013, a 3-week training on R-Statistics began at the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment (UWICE), Lamai Goempa, Bumthang. The fifteen participants attending this training come from College of National Resources, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Department of Livestock, Department of Forests and Park Services, Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park, Jigme Dorji National Park, and UWICE.
'R' is a free open source programming language for statistical computing and graphics. Many universities worldwide have adopted 'R' as their program of choice for analyzing research data and for classroom instruction in statistics. The training at UWICE will teach the basics of data analysis and graphing in R, using data provided by the participants in line with their current research. The resource person for this training is Dr. Ellen Cheng.
