The Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment (UWICE), Lamai Goempa, Bumthang, has celebrated the Social Forestry Day as the Heritage Plantation Day. Director, faculty members and students of the Institute graciously celebrated the day with Her Royal Highness Ashi Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck.

Minister of Agriculture and Forests Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, Dasho Sangay Wangchuck,  Dasho Peljor J. Dorji, Director General for Department of Forests and Park Services, Lam Neten and Dasho Dzongdag of Bumthang Dzongkhag and distinguished dignitaries joined the celebration.

HRH also inaugurated the Forest-Expo at the Institute. The Institute has established the Expo with the objective of disseminating information  on indigenous ways of using flora and showcasing Bhutan's forest biodiversity. As of now the Institute has collected about eighty species of plants, with plans to collect more in the future.
