Thimphu, December 26 2014: Bhutan Ecological Society (BES) President Dasho Paljor J. Dorji and Journal Chief Editor Dasho Karma Ura jointly launched the Bhutan Ecological Society’s inaugural issue of its new conservation journal.

A children’s book on Black-necked Cranes and a comic and workbook on waste management, both published with WWF-Bhutan support, were also launched during the joint BES-WWF program.

Dasho Paljor J. Dorji said that the BES journal will be an important forum to inform people on environmental research and conservation in the country. The journal is an internationally peer-reviewed journal that features research articles, policy analyses, reviews, short communications and perspectives to promote informed conservation of natural heritage and the ecological diversity of Bhutan. Henceforth it will be published annually by Bhutan Ecological Society.

The inaugural issue of the journal is dedicated in commemoration of the 60th birth anniversary of His Majesty The Fourth Druk Gyalpo. The journal is being distributed free of cost to government institutions, universities, conservation organizations and any interested persons. An online version of the journal will soon be available for free download from the Society’s website, www.bhutanecologicalsociety.org.bt. The Bhutan Ecological Society gratefully acknowledges support and funding for the inaugural journal issue from Bhutan Foundation, Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment, Bhutan Trust Fund, and WWF-Bhutan.
