Memorandum of Understanding Signed Between DoFPS and KREI

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Forests and Park Services (DoFPS) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF) and the Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI), Republic of Korea was signed on 27th May 2015 at Terma Linka Resort, Thimphu. Dr. Sei-Kyun Choi, President of KREI and Mr. Chencho Norbu, Director General of DoFPS signed the MoU.

MoU was signed with the aims of establishing relations between the two agencies pertaining to programs in forestry and natural resources.

Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, the Honourable Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF) graced the MoU signing event. The event was also witnessed by the Director Generals and head of various departments, and chief of divisions and functional divisions of MoAF.

KREI is a government-funded research institute established to play an important role in developing agricultural and forestry policies for the balanced development of urban and rural areas. The institute has contributed to Korea’s economic development and the enhancement of public welfare by conducting comprehensive research and surveys on the agricultural and forest economy and rural community development.

The President, Dr. Sei-Kyun Choi is accompanied by Dr. Hyun Deok Seok, Senior Director and three other senior members from KREI.  The delegations will return for Korea on 29th May 2015.
