A sixth batch student group comprising of 17 undergraduate students (11 female and 6 male) from the United States of America (USA) arrived Bhutan today (8 June 2015) to attend a six week summer program in Bhutan. The Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment (UWICE) and the School for Field Studies (SFS) jointly host an interdisciplinary field based course on Eastern Himalayan Forests, Watersheds and Rural Livelihoods.

The students are from 16 different universities and colleges across the USA.

SFS is a not-for-profit corporation based at Massachusetts in the USA. SFS organizes field-based environmental education and research programs for undergraduate students to develop environmentally literate citizens, and to promote sustainability of the world’s natural resources.

About 105 American students have attended the program over the past six years.
