Completion of Nature Guiding & Ecotourism Course in UWICE

The first batch of two months course on “Nature Guiding & Ecotourism Course” which began from 1st May 2015 concluded today with certificate awarding ceremony. During the two-month course, trainees were taught basics in identification of plants, mammals, butterflies, and birds. They were also introduced to mist netting and banding of birds, besides the field excursion they undertook to gain hands-on experience in taxonomic skills.

The certificate awarding ceremony was graced by Mr. Tshering Tempa, Officiating Director, and was attended by faculties and staff of the institute. Officiating Director, on his keynote address, advised the passing out trainees to make best use of knowledge and skills they gained through this course in conserving the natural resources and to make use in nature guiding & ecotourism.

One of the trainees, Mr. Ugyen Tshewang, said; “although the field excursion was tedious, we gained lot of knowledge and skills and realized the hardships faced by the forest field personnel”. On behalf of the trainees, he expressed his gratitude to UWICE management for providing the training.
