Training on High Altitude and Wilderness First Aid

A Week long training on High Altitude and Wilderness First Aid is underway at UWICE from 17th to 23rd April, 2016. The Training is targeted to equip field personal from the Department of Forests and Park Services (DoFPS) who are engaged in monitoring and patrolling of high altitude areas in case of medical emergency.

The training provide theory and practical sessions on  patient assessment, wilderness trauma, evacuation methods, high altitude illness, hypothermia, frostbite  etc.

The training is being provided by two experts from National Outdoor Leadership School Wilderness Medicine Institute, US, and a doctor from Ministry of Health, Thimphu. A total of 32 forestry field personals from various parks and territorial divisions are attending the training.

The Training is  funded by USAID through WWF-Bhutan program.
