A ten-day training on plant taxonomy and identification of selected sub-tropical plant families is underway at UWICE, Lamai Goempa, Bumthang with effect from 1^st September 2016. About 23 participants from field offices of the Parks and Divisions falling under Tangsibji Hydro Electric Project area, National Biodiversity Centre, Royal Botanical Park and Hydropower project are participating in the course.

The main objectives of the training are to:

• Build taxonomic capacity of field staff with focus on sub-tropical plant families
• Introduce the “culture” of herbarium preparation during field surveys
• Introduce to taxonomic resources

The training is organized jointly by UWICE and National Biodiversity Centre with funding support from Tangsibji Hydro Electric project.
