SFS-Bhutan Fall Program 2016 Begins

A group of 24 American undergraduate students from 21 different universities/colleges of the United States of America (USA) arrived Bhutan on 29th August 2016 to undergo 3 months semester program in Bhutan. The Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment (UWICE) located in Bumthang and the School for Field Studies (SFS) of the USA jointly host an interdisciplinary field based course on Himalayan Environment and Society in Transition. The students will undertake three main courses on

i) Political and Socioeconomic Dimensions of Environment

ii) Mountain Ecology and

iii) Land Use, Natural Resources, and Conservation.

The students will also get an opportunity to carryout directed field research and to learn about Bhutan’s language and culture.

SFS is a not-for-profit corporation based at Massachusetts in the USA (http://www.fieldstudies.org/). SFS organizes field-based environmental education and research programs for undergraduate students to develop environmentally literate citizens, and to promote sustainability of the world’s natural resources.
