SLANT - Bhutan write-shop in Paro (11-13 May 2019)

The Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environmental Research (UWICER) and the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) has been implementing the project“Sloping lands in transition: Participatory research on landscape management for forest ecosystem service provision and adaptation-SLANTsupported by Government of Austria, since 2016.   As part of the final phase of the project, a write-shop is being conducted by UWICER and CIFOR at Paro to synthesize the results of the project and prepare materials for dissemination to policy makers, forestry professionals and the communities of the research sites. Another objective of the write-shop is to review the overall project experiences and to chalk out the activities for the second phase of the project. Dr. Himlal Baral, Senior Scientist at CIFOR, and Dr. Robin Sears, Consultant, are facilitating the three-day write-shop. After the workshop, the team of researchers will visit some of the field sites in Thimphu, Punakha and Trongsa to discuss research findings with the Local Forest Officers and other key stakeholders.
