MoU signed between CWU and UWICER

The Ugyen Wanghuck Institute for Conservation and Environmental Research (UWICER), Department of Forests and Park Services, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Royal Government of Bhutan and Central Washington University (CWU), US signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 8th November 2019 in Thimphu to establish a research and education collaboration. Honorable Officiating Secretary Dasho Ugyen Penjor, Director General, Department of Agricultural and Marketing cooperatives, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests and Dr. Timothy Englund, Dean of School of Sciences, Central Washington University, USA signed the MoU in presence of delegates from CWU and officials from Ministry of Agriculture and Forests.

 The MoU provides a platform for two institutions to cooperate and collaborate on aacademic exchange program for student, faculty, and research scholar to promote cross-cultural learning and research; conduct joint research, lectures, symposia and country visits for students and faculty of both parties; exchange of data, documentation and research materials in academic fields of mutual interest; develop curriculum for future courses and academic programs; and prepare joint research projects in mobilizing the research grants.

“This is the first step in cementing a long-term partnership between UWICER and CWU based on our shared vision, purpose and commitment to future” said Dr Tim, Dean of Schools of Sciences.

“This MoU is, yet another milestone for the MoAF and one small step for man, but a giant step for mankind” said Dasho Ugyen Penjor, Offtg. Secretary, MoAF.

The MoU is valid for 5 years from the date of signing and may be renewed based on the consent of both parties.
