The Honorable Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Dasho Thinley Namgyel held a RNR progress and way forward meeting for Bumthang Dzongkhag at UWICER, Lamai Goempa campus today. Dasho shared concerns regarding the negative GDP growth (-6%) by the country during the current pandemic. However, he noted that the RNR sector recorded a positive growth of 5% compared to the previous year and emphasized the role that the RNR sector can play in recovering the economy.

13 Regional Heads of RNR agencies within the Bumthang Dzongkhag attended the meeting and presented the progress made by their respective offices under the 12th Five Year Plan (FYP), current Annual Performance Agreement (APA), and the way forward. Dasho commended the incredible work that the offices were doing in achieving the national goals and objectives.

The regional heads also offered Tashi Khadar to Dasho for recently assuming the post of Secretary.

The day ended with a tour of RNR offices and facilities.
