The Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Forest Research and Training at Lamaigoempa welcomed the 14^th batch Forester trainees on the 3^rd of July 2023. They will be undergoing a one-year certificate course in forestry for the intake year 2023-2024.

The Director of the Department of Forest and Park Services welcomed the trainees and the session attendees virtually to the training. The Director spoke to the trainees on the need to become a better forester by taking advantage of the plethora of expertise the Institute has to offer.  The Director talked of impending challenges and opportunities in the line of foresters' career after their graduation besides emphasizing on the disciplined disposition expected of a forester.

The trainees were briefed on the institute rules and regulations and the upcoming modules.  They were also given campus tour to apprise them of the facilities at hand during their year long stay.

The matriculation event was attended by the staff of the Institute and the Chief Forestry Officers of WCNP and PNP.

The Institute wishes the trainees have an enriching experience during their one year training at the institute.
