The success of conservation and management of wildlife resources strongly depend on effective protection measures backed by effective rules in place. The Forest and Nature Conservation Act of Bhutan 2023 (FNCA) and Forest and Nature Conservation Rules and Regulations 2023 (FNCRR) are the guiding legal frameworks for administration and management of forest resources in the country. While implementing the law, the Department faces challenges of inconsistencies in the way the rules are interpreted, investigation, evidence handling and legal documentation amongst the functional and field offices. This training which started on 6th of May, 2024 will help our forestry staff in uniformly interpreting and enforcing forestry rules and providing clear understanding of the fines and penalties listed under FNCA and FNCRR. The trained individuals are expected to educate the staff under each field divisions and parks.
The training supported by Bhutan For Life is attended by 23 participants (22 male and 1 female) and resource persons from the UWIFoRT and will end on 10th of May, 2024.
