Matriculation of 15th batch of Forester Trainees at UWIFoRT

The Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Forestry Research and Training (UWIFoRT) under the Department of Forests and Park Services, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources is pleased to announce the induction of its 15th batch of Forester Trainees. This milestone marks another significant step in our commitment to nurturing skilled professionals in the field of wildlife conservation and forestry management.
The matriculation ceremony, held on 2nd of July 2024 was a momentous occasion attended by staff members and the new cohort of enthusiastic trainees. The event showcases UWIFoRT’s dedication to providing comprehensive education and hands-on training that equips individuals with the knowledge and expertise necessary to address assortment of challenges in wildlife conservation and forestry management.
Mr. Kado Tshering, Officiating Head Specialist of UWIFoRT, emphasized on the institute’s mission to promote sustainable practices and conservation efforts through education and research. "We are delighted to welcome the 15th batch of Forester Trainees to UWIFoRT. Our program is designed not only to impart technical skills but also to instill a deep appreciation for biodiversity and environmental stewardship through enhanced service delivery", said Mr. Kado Tshering.
The new batch comprises 15 (10 girls and 5 boys) talented individuals from diverse backgrounds, each bringing in unique perspectives and a shared passion for preserving our natural heritage. Over the course of their training, they will engage in rigorous coursework, field studies, and practical exercises under the guidance of experienced faculty members and professionals at the institute.
The matriculation program includes trainees’ orientation to one-year professional forestry certificate curriculum, presentation of the institute’s vision, mandates and its activities, appraisal on institute rules and regulation, selection of office bearers and campus tour.
We wish 15 th batch trainees a great learning and comfortable stay at the institute for the academic year 2024-2025.
