A 5-day training program on R, focusing on basic statistical methods was held from 06 January 2025 to
10 January 2025, at UWIFoRT. The training aimed to equip participants with foundational skills in R
programming and data analysis. Key modules covered during the training included an introduction to R
and RStudio, data manipulation using packages such as `dplyr`, `stringr` and `tidyr`, data visualization
with `ggplot2`, statistical analyses such as t-tests, chi-squared test and ANOVA, and the application of
these techniques in research. The sessions combined lectures, live demonstrations, and practical
exercises with real-world data to ensure relevance and hands-on learning and assessment at the end to
check their competency.
Participants successfully gained skills in navigating the R environment, manipulating and visualizing data,
and performing basic statistical analyses. The training received positive feedback, with requests for
advanced topics and more hands-on practice in future sessions. Overall, the program achieved its
objectives, providing participants with essential tools to enhance their capacity for research.
The training was held with funding support from Bhutan for Life. A total of 36 participants (Male: 31 and
Female: 5) from various offices under the Department of Forests and Park Services attended the
