UWIFoRT and PAN team convene for Ecosystem Services Valuation Data Validation Workshop
Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Forestry Research and Training
(UWIFoRT) has been leading the Ecosystem Services Valuation (ESV) for the
Protected Area Network (PAN) in Bhutan. The project is being carried out in
collaboration with the PAN field offices. The respective team from UWIFoRT and
PAN has been collecting data on ecosystem services such as grazing, NWFP,
biodiversity conservation, and the various recreational values of the PA for the
past 18 months. As there is a huge amount of data, it's important to clean and
validate the data before proceeding with the analysis. Hence, the workshop was
held to clean and validate the collected data from April 28, 2025, to May 2,
2025. Apart from the previously collected data for ESV, other currently
available data, such as resource utilization data, biodiversity data, and
fishing data, were also compiled during the workshop. The workshop was crucial for
achieving the overall goal of ESV of the PAN.
A total of 28 officials (Male: 22 & Female: 6) comprising
of ESV focal from the PAN, other officials from the PAN, and officials from
UWIFoRT attended the workshop. The workshop was funded by the Bhutan for Life
Project (BFL).
