A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Department of Forests and Parks Services and the Maehongson Organic Social Enterprise Limited (MOSEL), a Private Company, based in Thailand, has been signed on 28th April, 2025. Recognizing the potential of the Maehongson Organic company in facilitating the transfer of agarwood production technology from Thailand to Bhutan, UWIFoRT worked on establishing formal relations with the MOSEL to promote cooperation through exchange programs and collaborative research in agarwood development in the country.

The parties through this collaboration envision to enhance the livelihoods of the people of rural Bhutan through promotion of Agarwood farming with enhanced technology, processing, and marketing.  The MOSEL shall particularly assist in the research, development and transfer of successful inoculation technology, integrated product processing including support for equipment, establishing market linkages for exporting of agar products, and liaising and communicating with Agarwood Companies and Communities in Thailand.

The MoU had been signed by Dr Nichapat Srisatittum, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, on behalf of MOSEL, and Karma Tenzin, Director, Department of Forests and Parks Services.
