Inception Workshop for “Enhancing Forest-Based Natural Resources Management for Community Resilience” happening in Thimphu
Inception Workshop for “Enhancing Forest-Based Natural Resources Management for Community Resilience” is happening in Thimphu since August 18, 2025. The Workshop is organised for orienting the participants with methodology and tools for conducting Bhutan’s ethnobotanical research to document plants and plant products used for Dye, Ornament, Food & Fibre (DOFF) and Traditional Medicines (MAPs). This study will explore and identify people-based critical knowledge domains in the country and document the ethnobotanical knowledge on plants and plant products with a focus on DOFF and MAPs.
The study is aimed at achieving the following objectives:
- Revitalise the indigenous wisdom through the
identification of people-based critical knowledge domains in forest-based
natural resources management
- Document
the traditional ethnobotanical knowledge of local communities regarding
the use of different plants and plant products in the country
- Diversify
livelihood options to enhance income generation for the rural communities
from the domestication and marketing of commercially viable plants and
plant products
One staff each from all Field Divsions/Parks and representatives from FRPMD and UWIFoRT are attending this workshop. Hon’ble Director, DoFPS, is also in attendance briefing participants on the importance of this project. The Inception workshop will end on August 21, 2025.
