UWICER takes over Nature Study Centre at Khebeythang

The Nature Study Centre (NSC) located at Khebeythang, at northwest of the Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park was taken over by Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environmental Research on 13th September 2017. The formal handing-taking was executed between Director, UWICER and Chief Forestry Officer, JSWNP. The centre which was established to create enabling environment for both national and international naturalist was not in optimum use after its inaugural ceremony on November 11, 1996.

With taking over the Nature Study Centre, UWICER will use the Center to deliver forest and wildlife management practical components to certificate students and for tailor made courses in forestry; conservation and environment. The centre will also conduct long term monitoring of snow leopards and other important high altitude fauna; and serve as a hub for high altitude flora and faunal studies.The Centre could also be used for field studies for both national and international students who deserve better understanding of nature by virtue of its environmentally pristine location.
