Young Forest Officer’s Leadership Course

The Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environmental Research (UWICER) is organizing the Young Forest Officer’s Leadership Course from 9 to 13 July 2018 at Lamai Goempa Campus, Bumthang.  The institute felt the need to educate young officer on different forestry programs implemented by the department and orient them on the emerging local forestry and environmental challenges and issues faced while discharging their duties.  The course will also educate and keep abreast of the current and emerging science and technology within the domains of forestry and environment.  The course is designed for the Department of Forests and Park Services’ Forest Officers who are less than 5 years in the service. 

The course will consist various presentations on:

  • department’s functional division plans and programs,
  • forestry policies analysis and its evolution,
  • forestry rules and regulations,
  • field assessment and protection surveillance,
  • research and scientific paper writing, and
  • debate on the topical forestry and environment issues.

The course is expected to empower the participants with latest sciences and technologies as well as expose to various forestry and environmental challenges of the time early on in their career and prepare them to handle or resolve the issue tactfully at their place of work. Further, the course will provide skills to engage meaningfully by doing research or pursuing self-development activities in the field.
