The Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environmental Research conducted the 19th General Staff Meeting (GSM) from July 24 – 25, 2018 at the Nature Study Sub-Center, Kheybeythang in Phobjikha – Wangduephodrang. The GSM was followed by the development of teaching resources and lesson planning for National Certificate II and III forestry program of the institute together with the development of Quality and Management Systems of the certificate program.

Kheybeythang remained largely unused for the last little over two decades after its construction and it was looked after by the Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park until the institute took over in August 2017. The institute aspires to develop Kheybeythang into a practically based nature study center focusing on biodiversity and taxonomic studies for our forestry students and to those interested institutions and students. Bhutan Foundation is playing a major role in helping the institute develop the Nature Study Sub-Center.
