Announcing available slots for Nature Guide Training at UWIFoRT

Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Forest Research and Training (UWIFoRT) and the Bhutan Tiger Center (BTC) under the Department of Forests and Park Services, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources would like to announce the availability of the slots for Nature Tour Guide Training on basic identification of birds, plants, butterflies, and mammals as detailed below:
Course name:  Basic Nature Tour Guide Training.

Course Duration:14 days including a 10 day field excursion
Last date of application: 26th Feb, 2024                         

Any interested local youth and cultural tour guides with valid guide license citizens and who are hailing from Samtse, Sarpang, Pema Gatsel, and Dagana Dzongkhags covered under the Tiger Range areas of Territorial Forest Divisions: Samtse, Sarpang, Dagana, and Protected Areas: Phibsoo Wildlife Sanctuary and Royal Manas National Parks may apply through this link:

The training program will be a short course that will commence from 1st March 2024 for 14 days with theory class sessions organized at the head office of UWIFoRT in Bumthang with field practical tour in and around Samtse, Sarpang, and Dagana areas. The training program is funded through the IUCN Tiger Conservation program of the BTC under Nature Conservation Division of DoFPS.
The program is designed to provide trainees with basic knowledge and skills to become a competent local nature tour guide in accordance with tourism and forestry standards. Upon successful completion of this course, the graduates will be able to work in government, corporate and private organizations where they can perform services such as carrying out nature expedition planning, providing nature guiding services with identification of local biodiversity species, and perform post nature expedition activities.
The applicants shall be notified for the selection result on the last date of application via phone or email. The selection shall be based on FIRST-COME-FIRST served basis and upon fulfilling the criteria specified above.
Logistics and transportation services with available learning materials will be provided for the entire duration of the course.
