Training on R for Biodiversity Research under IKI Landscape Project Area

The Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Forestry Research and Training (UWIFoRT), under the Department of Forests and Parks Services, LamaiGoempa, Bumthang, is conducting a five-day training program on R-Stats for Biodiversity Research.
The training is scheduled from March 1st to 5th, 2024. The program equips participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively utilize R software for biodiversity research within the IKI Landscape Area. The training will cover a basic R-stats typically covers three core components:
  1. Introduction to R and RStudio
  2. Data Handling and Manipulation
  3. Basic Statistical Analysis
  4. Data Visualization: Creating basic plots (scatter plots, bar charts) to communicate findings effectively
  5. Packages for Biodiversity Research: Participants will be introduced to specific R packages relevant to analyzing biodiversity data (e.g.,vegan,ggplot2).
A total of 29 forestry officials – 25 male and 4 female – from the IKI Landscape Area under the Department of Forests and Park Services are attending the training. Funding for the program is provided by WWF, Bhutan, through the IKI Landscape Project: Securing High Conservation Values in Southwestern Bhutan.
