Opportunity to take part in local nature guide training at UWIFoRT
The Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Forestry Research and Training (UWIFoRT) under the Department of Forests and Park Services, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources would like to announce the availability of 20 slots for availing local Nature Tour Guide Training on basic identification of birds, plants, butterflies, and mammals as detailed below;

Any interested individuals especially youth and cultural tour guides with valid guide licenses and citizens who come from Samtse, Tsirang, Wangduephodrang, Dagana, Trongsa, Bumthang, Mongar, and Lhuentse Dzongkhags (Registration currently closed..please check for future updates)
The
training program will be a short course that will commence from 9th
June 2025 for 7 days with
Theoretical
inputs by tutors from UWIFoRT, DoFPS. The field practical tour will be
conducted in Bumthang and Mongar areas.
The
training program is funded through the IUCN/KFW Integrated Tiger Habitat Conservation
program of the BTC under Nature Conservation Division of DoFPS.
The
program is designed to provide basic knowledge and develop skills and ability
of an individual
to
become a competent local nature tour guide and act as an advocate in creating
awareness in the rural areas on tiger conservation, while providing nature tour
guiding services.
Upon successful
completion of this course, graduates will be able to work in private tourism
businesses and local ecotourism associations, providing services such as
identifying local bird, plant, mammal, and butterfly species.
The
applicants shall be notified for the selection result on the 8th
June 2025 and confirmed via email.
The
selection shall be based on FIRST-COME-FIRST served basis and upon fulfilling
the criteria
specified
above.
Logistics
and transportation services with available learning materials will be provided
during the actual training duration.
